Mutha Cuva secures funding to fuel growth

A North East climate tech start-up is set to transform how homeowners maintain low-carbon heating systems.

Mutha Cuva has secured pre-seed funding from regional female investment firm Lifted Ventures and nine angel investors to scale its subscription-based platform for heat pump servicing.

Founded by Newcastle entrepreneur Amy Mooney, the company addresses one of the country’s most pressing clean energy challenges: reliable aftercare for heat pumps as gas boilers are phased out in new-build homes.

The technology-led platform automates service bookings, monitors systems remotely and provides AI-powered tools to help engineers deliver faster, smarter maintenance.

By simplifying aftercare, Mutha Cuva aims to ensure heat pumps operate efficiently and homeowners enjoy dependable, low-carbon heating.

Amy says the investment will fund expansion across the North East and accelerate platform development, creating a seamless experience for both engineers and homeowners.

She adds that Mutha Cuva plans to scale nationally from 2026, supporting the UK’s decarbonisation targets and making heat pumps a practical and trusted alternative to gas boilers.

Amy said: “The UK is at a pivotal moment in its transition away from fossil fuels.

“While heat pumps are essential to achieving net-zero, the industry has overlooked a critical piece of the puzzle: aftercare.

“Mutha Cuva is here to make heat pump servicing simple, reliable and scalable, giving homeowners peace of mind and helping the UK hit its climate targets.

“Securing this pre-seed investment is a huge milestone for us.

“It validates our vision and gives us the backing we need to accelerate growth and deliver real impact at scale.

“I’m particularly proud to have Lifted Ventures leading this round; their commitment and network of experienced angels bring not only capital but also the expertise and support we need as we scale.”

Jordan Dargue, co-founder of Leeds-based Lifted Ventures, added: “Amy and the Mutha Cuva team are solving a vital bottleneck in the UK’s green transition.

“Their combination of industry expertise and tech-driven innovation makes them uniquely positioned to build the trusted servicing infrastructure heat pumps need to succeed at scale.

“We’re thrilled that a strong group of angel investors is backing Amy and Mutha Cuva, bringing not just funding but invaluable experience and networks to accelerate their growth.”

Helen Oldham, co-founder of Lifted Ventures, added: “At Lifted Ventures, we are committed to backing regional female entrepreneurs, who remain underrepresented in venture capital.

“Supporting Amy on this journey is exactly the kind of high-impact, founder-led innovation we set out to champion.”
