Contractor builds with family contact centre work
A builder has strengthened its project pipeline with a community support hub contract.
G F Tomlinson is working on a new family contact centre.
Bosses say the Worksop-based venture will provide support services for vulnerable children, young people and families across Nottinghamshire.
Set to be completed next summer, they add the centre will feature private contact rooms, conference space and a secure outdoor play area.
It will also be fitted with solar panelling and air source heat pumps.
Derby and Birmingham-based G F Tomlinson is working alongside Arc Partnership – a joint venture between Nottinghamshire County Council and SCAPE – on the endeavour, which will replace a bungalow accommodation base.
Andy Sewards, G F Tomlinson group chair, said: “This vital project will positively impact the lives of families across the county.
“The new facility will not only provide a safe, secure and comfortable space for children and families, but it’s also being constructed with energy-efficiency and long-term sustainability in mind.”
Councillor Mick Barton, leader of Nottinghamshire County Council, added: “Supporting the most vulnerable children, young people and families in our community is a key priority.
“This new space will provide essential services in a much better environment and the chance to meet with social workers in a welcoming and calm place to help put everyone more at ease.”
The contract comes as G F Tomlinson continues work to extend the University of Nottingham’s Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre, which officials say will create space to house “the UK’s most powerful MRI scanner”.
