Schofield Sweeney expands with senior hires and new apprentices

Yorkshire law firm Schofield Sweeney has strengthened its team with six senior appointments and four new solicitor apprentices, bringing its total headcount to 178 and supporting growing demand across key practice areas.

The firm’s latest recruits enhance expertise in private wealth, insolvency, contentious probate, debt recovery and property litigation, reflecting its continued growth and commitment to delivering specialist commercial legal services.

In restructuring and insolvency, director Gillian Kaufman joins from Irwin Mitchell, specialising in corporate recovery and insolvency. 

She said: “Schofield Sweeney team has a strong reputation in the region. 

“The insolvency team in particular is growing in terms of reputation and size and I’m looking forward to working with the very friendly and welcoming team.”

In private wealth and succession, Kim Hammond has been appointed associate, focusing on estate planning.

Dale Fawcett joins as head of debt recovery, bringing 18 years’ experience delivering strategic client-focused results. 

Dale added: “I was drawn to Schofield Sweeney for its strong brand presence and scale. It’s an exciting time for the firm and I’m looking forward to expanding our specialist debt recovery offering and delivering valuable services to clients.”

Meanwhile, the property litigation team welcomes Claire James as director and Kimberly Tao Le as solicitor, both from Pinsent Masons. 

Claire specialises in vacant possession and right of light cases, while Kimberly focuses on contentious property matters.

Finally, in contentious probate, Julia Fenton has joined as solicitor, advising on all aspects of estate and trust disputes.
