Offshore engineer picks up Polish energy contract
A subsea engineer has secured a “landmark” Baltic Sea contract.
Eastgate Engineering is set to support work on the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms.
The ventures, led by Equinor and Polenergia off the Polish coast, will provide renewable power to about two million homes when completed.
Bosses at Thornaby-based Eastgate Engineering – which previously supported the development of Dogger Bank wind farm – say the project reiterates the company’s “commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions throughout Europe”.
David Brennan, Eastgate Engineering chief executive, said: “Our involvement in Bałtyk 2 and 3 reflects our continued growth in offshore renewables and our commitment to supporting the global transition to clean energy.
“We’re proud to bring our expertise, proven capabilities and collaborative approach to this landmark project.”
Eastgate Engineering – which also has a base in Waterford, Ireland – has been contracted by Smulders to deliver the work.
