Banks Homes submits 62-home Hambleton plans
A housebuilder is set to expand a village development in North Yorkshire.
County Durham-headquartered Banks Homes has submitted plans for a second phase at The Pastures in Hambleton, near Selby, following progress on the first phase of 62 new homes.
The proposed 74 additional properties would include a mix of private and affordable family homes, including bungalows, all designed with modern sustainability features such as air source heat pumps and electric car charging points.
The development also aims to deliver a ten per cent biodiversity net gain and a new recreation area for local children.
Access would be via Gateforth Lane through the existing phase one site, with a secondary route for pedestrians, cyclists and emergency vehicles off the A63.
If approved, construction is expected to begin at the end of 2026.
The Pastures marks Banks Homes’ first residential project in Yorkshire, with further county-wide developments anticipated as the housebuilder increases its investment in the region.
Kate Culverhouse, community relations manager at the Banks Group, said: “Work is progressing well at The Pastures and we’re now looking to build on the long-term commitment that we’re making around delivering much-needed, high quality homes in North Yorkshire.
“Our phase two plans at Hambleton are a logical and sustainable extension to The Pastures and are being brought forward in line with changes to the National Planning Policy Framework, which reflect ambitious government targets to significantly boost the UK’s housing supply.
“The Pastures is a high-quality development which will give more local people and families a greater opportunity to stay in the village, and we’re confident that there will also be strong demand for the additional homes we’re now looking to see built at Hambleton East.
“It would include a mix of high-quality new houses and bungalows being built within a sensitively designed development and would incorporate a range of important sustainable design features, such as air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points.
“We hope the members of North Yorkshire Council’s planning committee will give their support to our phase two plans when they come to review them, as they did with phase one, and that we will be able to extend the significant investment we are already making in the regional economy and local community.”
