West Yorkshire firm shines with solar investment
A West Yorkshire property firm is future-proofing its headquarters and trading estate with a major solar investment.
Dewsbury-based Nimra Properties has installed 565 PV solar panels across its Caldervale Mills site in Ravensthorpe, where it has supported the business community since acquiring the site in 2006.
The estate is now home to seven companies, many of which have operated there for more than a decade.
Bosses say the solar installation is expected to cut monthly energy costs by 43 per cent, saving around £27,000 a year, with a payback period of approximately five years.
They add that the investment will also reduce fossil fuel emissions by 81 per cent, the equivalent of 45 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
Masood Akhtar, director at Nimra Properties, said: “The UK is on an important journey towards a decentralised, clean energy system, and we want to play our part in making that happen.
“In the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, the goal is to reach net-zero by 2038, and we believe businesses like ours, along with the brilliant companies based at Caldervale Mills, have a big role to play in helping the region get there.
“Installing solar panels is the right next step for us, not just because of the savings we’re already seeing, but because it’s helping us create a greener future for the estate and wider community.”
Funded in part by a £110,000 Green Asset Finance loan from Lloyds, the project reinforces Nimra Properties’ long-term commitment to sustainability and tenant support.
Savings generated will be reinvested into the four-acre estate, ensuring Caldervale Mills remains a reliable and sustainable home for local businesses.
Craig Baldwin, relationship manager at Lloyds, added: “Masood and the team at Nimra Properties have a clear understanding of what local businesses need when choosing a place to grow.
“After nearly two decades of hands-on site management, their continued commitment is evident – most recently through the investment in solar, which not only cuts costs but also supports a more sustainable future for the business and its tenants.”
