Binarii Labs appoints independent director in the US
Irish data security company Binarii Labs has appointed former Akamai executive Sean McDermott as independent director of its US operations.
Alongside his appointment, Sean is also joining the company’s ongoing €1.85 million funding round as an angel investor.
Headquartered at NovaUCD in Dublin, Binarii Labs is an Enterprise Ireland client developing solutions that enhance digital sovereignty and data resilience for global enterprises.
Sean brings over two decades of experience in software and cloud infrastructure, having served as vice-president of engineering at Akamai Technologies, where he led major innovations in distributed systems.
Since 2019, he has been active in early-stage investment through Santa Barbara Venture Partners, One Dream Ventures and Tech Coast Angels.
Sean said: “Binarii stood out for addressing an emerging market with a thoughtfully designed solution.
“It is a rare combination of market opportunity, innovative technology and capable leadership, which together make it a compelling investment.
“That is why I am excited to join as independent director of Binarii Labs in the US and to personally invest in its success.”
Sean’s appointment adds strategic depth to Binarii Labs’ leadership as it expands globally and continues advancing its sovereign data-security platform.
Aidan Finn, chief executive of Binarii Labs, added: “Sean’s decision to both invest in Binarii Labs and join our board is a strong vote of confidence in our mission.
“His expertise at scaling global technology companies, combined with his financial commitment, strengthens both our governance and our ability to engage with investors and enterprise customers worldwide.”
