Multisec sets new benchmark in heavy lifting
A North East engineering firm has strengthened its global reputation for innovation in heavy lifting with the certification of two record-breaking modular spreader beams.
Multisec has achieved DNV Product Certification for a 1200-tonne beam measuring 12.5 metres and a 2000-tonne beam stretching 18.5 metres – the largest in its range to date.
Both are designed with capacity for future extensions, meeting the growing demands of global offshore and heavy-lift projects.
The certification follows extensive in-house testing and independent assessment, confirming full compliance with international safety and performance standards.
Multisec’s modular spreader beam system is used worldwide for its strength, adaptability and reliability across sectors including offshore wind, oil and gas, as well as major infrastructure.
Amanda Gardiner, managing director of Multisec, which is based in Middlesbrough, said: “These beams are not just impressive in scale – they symbolise our team’s relentless pursuit of innovation, safety and performance.
“DNV certification is not simply a badge – it’s recognition of the precision and dedication behind every Multisec product.
“These beams demonstrate what can be achieved when engineering ambition is combined with uncompromising attention to detail.”
Technical director Wan Djawad added: “The real test wasn’t just achieving a 2000-tonne working load, but doing so while retaining the core advantages of the Multisec system — modularity, adaptability and reliability.
“Every design decision and every test was driven by the need to ensure these beams could perform in the intended environment whilst complying to stringent design codes.
“The result is not just capacity, but confidence.”
