Developer secures 'iconic' city contract
A housing developer has secured a city regeneration contract.
Keon Homes has been appointed approved partner on a 95-property Birmingham scheme.
Set for the ex-Tower Ballroom site facing Edgbaston Reservoir, the venture will include one and two-bed apartments, and two to four-bedroom homes.
Bosses say the Burntwood-based company impressed Birmingham City Council “with its vision to create considerable public realm improvements with large open swathes, footpaths and seating areas”.
They add plans have also been placed to refurbish the Grade II-listed Reservoir Lodge into a new Tara Group Hub, which could house communal areas and meeting spaces that support local charities and community groups.
Matt Beckley, partnership director, said: “The Tower Ballroom is an iconic location in Birmingham, and we are delighted we have been chosen to bring it back to life – providing much-needed affordable housing and, importantly, a fantastic public space on the edge of the city.
“Tower Ballroom delivers fantastic outdoor spaces and gives local people the chance to unlock all the benefits that arise from living by water yet within easy access to a vibrant city centre.”
