Business Rescue Expert opens Manchester office

Darlington-headquartered restructuring and insolvency practice Business Rescue Expert has expanded into the North West with the launch of a new Manchester operation, appointing Kevin Pinkerton as managing director.

Kevin joins after 23 years as a restructuring and insolvency lawyer, most recently serving as national head of the practice at Freeths.

A qualified insolvency practitioner, he previously worked at George Davies Solicitors and Turner Parkinson before becoming a partner at Freeths in 2010.

Kevin, who is a fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals – known as R3 – said: “Business Rescue Expert has grown to become a nationally-respected corporate insolvency practice, having advised more than 10,000 business owners and directors and handled over 1100 formal insolvency appointments.

“I’ve acted for the firm for 20 years and have seen first-hand the quality of the work and capability of its staff.

“The prospect of being able to help it grow in the North West and then nationally felt too good to miss.”

He added: “Having been qualified as an IP since 2007, and having a love of the business side, I have always carried a want to work in insolvency as the office holder, as it provides the most direct route to helping distressed businesses.

“Together with current directors Eamonn and Chris Horner, we’ll be offering a fresh perspective to business owners, directors and creditors by bringing my technical legal knowledge and commercial approach to an established and modern licensed insolvency practice, ensuring that all bases are covered from the very first discussion.

“I’m excited to be launching Business Rescue Expert into the North West region.”

The new Manchester base marks the firm’s first office outside the North East and supports its ambition to grow rapidly across the region.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Business Rescue Expert specialises in voluntary liquidations, company voluntary arrangements, administrations, individual voluntary arrangements, bankruptcies and Time to Pay agreements with HMRC.

Founder and chief executive Eamonn Wall added: “I was one of Kevin’s first clients when he started out in insolvency as a trainee, and we have worked together on over 100 assignments in the years since.

“He has that rare experience of having played an integral role in the creation of a national insolvency team and being appointed as national head of insolvency.

“His 23 years spent as a specialist insolvency lawyer brings a unique offering in advice to other professionals as well as directors, in terms of his technical legal knowledge, commercial approach and experience.

“Kevin’s appointment adds further in-depth expertise to the practice in every aspect of all statutory processes, from administrations, receiverships and voluntary arrangements to bankruptcy appointments, solvent liquidations and everything in between.”

Eamonn added: “The North West is a most dynamic and thriving business market, along with being the largest legal centre outside of London.

“We have long been looking to find the right person to spearhead our entry into the region, and we are thrilled to welcome Kevin on board.

“The establishment of our North West office is the next step in our ambitious growth plans and we are looking to recruit further senior professionals over the next 12 months.

“We’re focusing on building a one-stop shop to assist company directors, creditors and our collective network of professional contacts with all matters relating to financial distress, recovery and insolvency.”
