easyJet expands network with Tenerife flights

A North East airport is set to offer holidaymakers even more choice next summer.

easyJet has announced a new route from Newcastle International Airport to Tenerife, adding to the series of destinations introduced following the launch of its three-aircraft base at the airport.

The service will begin on August 1 next year and operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, giving passengers across the North East, Southern Scotland, North Yorkshire and Cumbria a new option for sunshine escapes.

Richard Knight, chief operating officer at Newcastle Airport, said: “Tenerife continues to be one of our most popular destinations so it’s fantastic that passengers will have even more choice to visit the island next summer with easyJet’s new route.

“The new base highlights the airline’s strong commitment to Newcastle Airport and will deliver hundreds of thousands of additional low-cost seats and great-value package holidays, while also significantly boosting the local economy by creating high-quality jobs and attracting more visitors to the region.

“We look forward to celebrating with easyJet when the new routes take off and to announcing more exciting new destinations soon.”

The route joins the growing line-up of services planned for next year, with easyJet now offering 20 destinations from Newcastle.

Twelve new routes have gone on sale this year alone, including Antalya, Corfu, Dalaman, Enfidha, Faro, Malta, Prague, Reus, Rhodes, Sharm El-Sheikh and the airport’s only direct service to Nice.

Kevin Doyle, UK country manager at easyJet, added: “We are delighted to announce another route and packages from Newcastle to popular holiday destination Tenerife.

“The launch of these routes this year and the upcoming opening of our base at Newcastle next year demonstrates our continued confidence in the region and providing our customers in the North East, Southern Scotland, North Yorkshire and Cumbria with even more choice and connectivity.

“We are committed to making travel easy and affordable for our customers in the UK and we look forward to welcoming them onboard.”
