Getting to know... Graeme Coyle

We know you as the founder of Seller Presto and a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, but who is the person behind the title? Tell us a little about what makes you tick…

Honestly, what keeps me ticking is that constant drive to succeed. I’m big on pushing myself, setting goals, and not settling until I hit them.

I have a two young children and they are a massive part of that too. They remind me what all the hard work’s for.

And yeah, I’ve got to mention coffee, it’s the fuel that keeps everything moving.

But really I’m just someone who’s hungry to keep learning, keep growing.

Did you always want to work in your industry?

Not exactly! I did a degree in marketing, but at the time I had no idea it would lead me into eCommerce let alone Amazon. After university, I spent several years in market research, which I like to describe as learning how to ask people questions they didn’t really want to answer. It turned out to be a great training ground though understanding consumers, data, and what makes people tick. Eventually that opened the door to Amazon retail.

What’s the best bit about your job? And the worst?

The best bit is definitely the variety, we get to work with such a wide range of clients, from Dragon’s Den winners to household names, and no two days are ever the same. Plus, I’m lucky to have a brilliant team around me who actually make the chaos enjoyable. The worst bit? Working with Amazon itself It’s a bit like working with a very talented but unpredictable colleague, you do question your life choices from time to time.”

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement has to be growing the business from a bedroom idea into a fully operating company. I started out with nothing more than a laptop, a vision, and a bit of self-belief, and to see that grow into a real business with clients, a team, and a strong reputation is something I’m massively proud of.

How do you relax outside of work?

With a three- and six-year-old at home, I don’t really ‘relax’ in the traditional sense. Most of my downtime involves Lego, snack negotiations, and pretending to enjoy children’s TV. When I do get a bit of peace, I like keep fit such as calisthenics or playing football, basically anything that makes me feel slightly less like I’ve been sitting at a desk all week.”

What makes the North East such a great place to live and work?

The North East has a bit of everything, talent, creativity, and a proper sense of community. People here are genuine and hardworking, but they don’t take themselves too seriously, which is refreshing. There are a lot of local groups and networks that make it easy to connect, collaborate, and learn from people who’ve been there and done it. There’s a lot of collaboration rather than competition. Plus, you can actually afford a house and still be near the coast which helps.

Tell us something about you we didn’t know…

Something people might not know is that, alongside Seller Presto, I also run a cookware brand called Pep Pans, we design and sell high-quality pans. It’s a completely different space, but I love building brands and spotting gaps in the market.

And outside of business, I’ve got a real passion for fast cars.
