Cotswold agency earns B Corp status
A Cotswolds-based property business is celebrating a major milestone after securing an internationally recognised ethical accreditation.
The Cotswold Letting Agency has become the region’s first letting agent to achieve B Corporation certification, confirming it meets high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
Verified by B Lab, the accreditation recognises companies that prioritise purpose alongside profit.
Based in Burford, the independent agency manages around 150 high-quality properties and was founded on a principle of “balanced profit”, ensuring commercial success supports the area’s communities and natural environment.
Its commitment to sustainable economic development within the UK’s largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has been central to its operations.
The certification also reflects the agency’s focus on responsible governance, strong employee practices, community impact and environmental stewardship.
Fergus Mitchell, director and founder of The Cotswold Letting Agency, said: “Achieving B Corp status is a milestone that reflects everything we’ve worked to build since founding the business here in the Cotswolds.
“We’ve always believed that a letting agency should be more than transactional, it should be a force for good in the community, treating every landlord and tenant with respect and integrity.
“Operating in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty brings with it a real responsibility to protect and enhance this incredible region, and that’s been at the heart of our approach from day one.
“The B Corp framework has given us a roadmap for continuous improvement and connected us with a global network of businesses who share our values.
“Being the first letting agency in the Cotswolds to achieve this shows that ethical practice and business success go hand in hand, and we’re proud to lead by example for our sector in the region.”
The Cotswold Letting Agency now joins a global B Corp community of more than 10,000 businesses, including over 2600 in the UK.
Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, added: “Welcoming The Cotswold Letting Agency to the B Corp community is hugely exciting.
“Its commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others and will help spread the notion that success in business is as much about people and planet as it is profit.
“We’re particularly pleased to see the letting sector represented, proving that positive impact is possible in any industry.”
