Browne Jacobson makes dual partner hire

London-based law firm Browne Jacobson has strengthened its financial and professional risks practice with the appointment of Adam Berry and Adam Culy as partners.

Adam Berry brings more than 15 years’ experience in financial services investigations from roles in private practice, the FCA’s enforcement division and, most recently, in-house at Barclays.

He has acted on high-profile FCA and PRA enforcement actions, regulatory enquiries and internal investigations, including s.166 Skilled Person reviews.

Adam Berry said: “Browne Jacobson’s ambition and client-first approach made this move compelling.

“The firm is building something special in financial services disputes and investigations, and I'm excited to help clients navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape where regulatory scrutiny of firms and individuals shows no signs of slowing.”

Meanwhile, Adam Culy joins from Stephenson Harwood following 13 years as general counsel at BDO.

Ranked by Legal 500 and Chambers, he specialises in professional indemnity disputes and regulatory investigations involving bodies such as the FRC, ICAEW and SFO, advising major accountancy firms on complex litigation and risk management.

Adam Culy added: “Joining Browne Jacobson now, at this point in their growth trajectory, is incredibly exciting.

“The firm's reputation for exceptional client service and its ambition to build market-leading teams made this an easy choice.”

The dual hire marks Browne Jacobson’s tenth London partner appointment since April, reflecting its continued investment in disputes, investigations and specialist regulatory expertise.

Jonathan Newbold, partner, head of financial services and insurance, added: “Bringing Adam Berry and Adam Culy into the partnership further enhances our ability to support clients in the most complex, high-stakes financial services and professional liability matters.”
