True Potential appoints first chief people officer
Newcastle-based wealth management firm True Potential has appointed Laura McCall as its first chief people officer, strengthening its executive team as the business enters its next phase of growth.
Laura brings 17 years’ HR leadership experience across financial services, joining from Baillie Gifford where she served as director of global HR business partnering.
Her career also includes senior roles at the Scottish National Investment Bank, Martin Currie and NatWest.
In her new role, Laura will lead True Potential’s people strategy, supporting a values-led culture and helping colleagues develop and progress across the organisation.
She will work closely with the firm’s new chief executive, Gerry Mallon, who took over earlier this year.
Laura said: “I’m thrilled to be joining True Potential at such an exciting time for the business.
“What attracted me most was the strength of the team – their expertise, passion and genuine commitment to helping clients achieve better financial outcomes.
“I see a great opportunity to build on these strong foundations and deliver a people strategy that continues to support our colleagues and the Group’s ambitions for the future.”
Laura will take up the post in early 2026, based at True Potential’s Newcastle headquarters.
Gerry added: “Our people not only make True Potential what it is today, they are also at the very heart of our future growth and success.
“I am delighted that Laura will be joining us as we continue to enhance our colleague experience and be an employer of choice in the North East.
“The newly created chief people officer role is a core part of our executive team and central to our ambitions as we enter our next chapter.
“Laura’s proven experience in shaping culture, driving change and elevating the voice of colleagues will be vital as we continue to evolve.
“To deliver on our ambitious strategy, True Potential must continue to be a home for outstanding and talented people who take immense pride in the service they provide and the market-leading proposition we offer our clients.”
