Grange Machinery cultivates German growth

An East Yorkshire farm machinery manufacturer is expanding overseas.

Grange Machinery has secured a new distribution partnership that will see its equipment supplied to farmers across northern Germany, strengthening its European footprint.

The deal has been agreed with MP Planting, a Lindewitt-based dealership operating in Schleswig-Holstein, one of Germany’s most productive agricultural regions.

Under the agreement, MP Planting will distribute Grange’s range of toolbars, soil looseners, cultivators and drills, supporting arable farmers working across wheat, maize and oilseed rape production.

Rhun Jones, managing director of Grange Machinery, said: “We are in several European countries now, as well as having a presence in the southern hemisphere where farmers face drier conditions, so soil compaction is a real issue.

“Agreeing this deal with MP Planting extends our presence in Germany, which is a growing and important market for our products, and is another fantastic next step in developing our overseas business.

“I’m very much looking forward to sending our first shipments out to Melf and seeing them work in German fields.”

The partnership was agreed following Agritechnica in Hanover, where Grange Machinery exhibited for the first time.

That appearance marked a milestone for the business, generating on-stand sales and new orders while opening the door to international collaboration.

Reflecting growing demand for Grange’s machinery beyond the UK, the deal represents a strategic step in developing export markets across Europe, with northern Germany offering strong long-term opportunities for growth.

Melf Petersen, managing director of MP Planting, added: “With larger machinery now working the fields, there is a real drive in northern Germany to relieve compaction and bring soil health to the forefront of farming operations.

“Couple this with more unpredictable weather, and machines that can cultivate or drill in adverse conditions are also in demand.

“Providing solutions to the types of problems growers are facing is at the core of what Grange Machinery does, and it was this that caught my eye at Agritechnica.

“Grange’s range of products will fit well into the cultivation systems so many of our clients use and I’m excited to bring them to north Germany.”
