Banks unveils Hunmanby housing plans
A North Yorkshire housing development is moving closer as early proposals have been shared with the local community ahead of a formal planning submission.
County Durham-headquartered Banks Property has unveiled initial plans for a new housing scheme on land to the north west of Hunmanby, near Filey.
The proposals outline up to 125 homes on a five-hectare site off Muston Road, known locally as the Milk Field.
Plans include a mix of property types, with 15 per cent allocated as affordable housing, alongside new public open spaces and green corridors.
The scheme also commits to delivering at least a ten per cent biodiversity net gain.
A public consultation event was held in the village, allowing residents to view the proposals, speak directly with the project team and provide feedback.
Comments gathered will inform a planning application expected to be submitted to North Yorkshire Council in the new year.
Jamilah Hassan, community relations manager at the Banks Group, said: “We’re grateful to all the local people who took the time to meet us at our exhibition in Hunmanby and pleased with the many positive comments that we had about our plans.
“Feedback from local people is essential in helping us finalise our development designs and we’ll now be working the comments we received into the planning application that will be submitted to North Yorkshire Council in the new year.
“This will be a high-quality development in which we’re looking to create a range of sustainable, contemporary homes in a location that is well connected to local facilities and that will give more people the opportunity to stay in or move to the area.”
