Troo secures growth investment and makes senior hire
Independent energy consultancy Troo has strengthened its leadership team and secured new backing as it enters its next phase of growth, appointing Michael Fitzpatrick as commercial director alongside a significant investment from NEL Fund Managers.
Michael Fitzpatrick joins the business with extensive experience building and leading commercial teams in high-growth environments.
His appointment supports Troo’s continued expansion of its consultancy-led model, alongside increased investment in technology, data and talent to serve customers across the UK.
Michael said: “I am excited to join Troo at this pivotal moment.
“It’s a business that leads with honesty, puts the customer first, and doesn’t hide behind jargon or fine print.
“I’m here to help take that to the next level, while making sure the values that got us here stay at the heart of what we do.”
Meanwhile, the investment from NEL Fund Managers will enable Troo to scale while staying true to its core values of transparency, fairness and long-term customer value.
Bosses say the funding will support the development of its people-first service model, as well as further use of AI and automation to improve clarity and decision-making for clients.
Andrew Richardson, chief executive at Troo, said: “This funding helps us grow with purpose.
“That means investing in practical AI and our team, improving how we use data, and continuing to offer businesses clear, honest advice at a time when they need it most.”
As part of its evolution, Troo has repositioned from an energy broker to a full-service energy consultancy, offering support across procurement, energy efficiency, renewables and compliance, with a renewed focus on openness and clear advice in a complex sector.
The move follows a strong period of momentum for the business, including recognition in the Wired x HSBC Trailblazer list and being named Fastest Growing Small Business at the North East Fastest 50 Awards.
Andrew added: “We’ve grown because we’ve listened.
“Our customers shape how we work.
“This next phase is about doubling down on that, listening more, supporting better, and offering real value.
“This rebrand reflects the shift already underway inside the business.
“We’re focused on being the most transparent, reliable, and value-led partner a business can have when it comes to energy.
“That means putting people first, always being upfront, and offering support that goes far beyond just getting a quote.”
