Law firm steps confidently into new year
A North East law firm is entering the new year with fresh momentum after a period of growth, investment and renewal that has strengthened both its business and community roots.
Richard Reed Solicitors has reflected on a standout 2025 that marked a defining chapter in its long history, as the Sunderland-based firm combined strategic development with a renewed focus on how it supports clients and the wider region.
Among the year’s key milestones was a full rebrand to coincide with its 77th anniversary.
The refreshed identity was designed to reflect a modern, forward-looking practice while retaining strong ties to its Sunderland heritage.
The firm also relocated to The Beam, one of the city’s most prominent new developments, creating a contemporary workspace intended to support collaboration, innovation and future growth while remaining firmly rooted in the city centre.
Growth has also come through people and partnerships.
Richard Reed expanded its team with new solicitors and support staff, ensuring it could meet rising demand while maintaining service standards.
Alongside this, the firm strengthened a network of complementary sector partnerships to support longer-term ambitions.
Innovation featured strongly through the launch of the Legally Sound podcast, a new platform aimed at making legal topics more accessible.
The series has gained early traction by exploring everyday personal and business legal issues in a clear, practical way and engaging with voices from across the firm and the wider community.
Sarah Reid, managing director at Richard Reed, said: “As we move into 2026, our focus remains exactly where it has always been, delivering high-quality legal advice with a personal and supportive approach, staying closely connected to the region we proudly serve, and building a future shaped by ambition, compassion, and strong community values.
“The past twelve months have set a confident tone for what comes next.”
Meanwhile, the firm’s commitment to social impact was recognised regionally when it was highly commended for Community Business of the Year at the North East Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, alongside receiving the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award from the Ministry of Defence.
Charitable activity remained central throughout the year, with fundraising and support for organisations including Love Amelia, Grace House North East, Smart Works and St Cuthberts Hospice.
Staff also took part in wider fundraising and volunteering initiatives, reinforcing the firm’s belief in being an active and positive presence in the communities it serves.
As it looks ahead to 2026, Richard Reed Solicitors enters the year with a refreshed identity, a strengthened team and a clear sense of direction, building on nearly eight decades of legal expertise.
Sarah added: “We are excited about the opportunities ahead.
“Our success and growth in 2025 set the stage for continued growth and impact and we will continue to focus on delivering exceptional service and achieving results for our clients, whilst also supporting the broader local community.”
