Engineering firm rewarded for talent commitment
An engineering firm is celebrating after securing an industry accolade.
Dyer Engineering picked up the developing future talent honour at the Make UK National Manufacturing Awards.
Judges highlighted the company’s “extensive investment in its apprentice programme and structured learning process”.
They also cited partnerships with a local college to create a socially impactful training programme tackling regional skill shortages.
Based in Annfield Plain and Harelaw, near Stanley, County Durham, Dyer Engineering supplies fabricated and machined components to sectors including energy, defence and rail.
Adam Leggett, managing director of Dyer Engineering, which operates within the wider SST Group, said: “You have to grow your own talent, otherwise you’ll run out of it.
“This award reflects the time, care and commitment our teams put into developing the next generation, and why apprenticeships remain central to the future of our business and our industry.”
Dawn Huntrod, Make UK North region director, added: “The engineering and manufacturing sector remains at the heart of creating wealth in the North East.
“As we grow our economy, there will be a bright future for companies and individuals that make the most of their talent.”
