Development duo unveils 137-home city project

A development duo has unveiled a 137-home blueprint.

MIA Property Group is working with housing association Midland Heart on a Birmingham scheme.

Bosses say the venture – set for a 1.4-acre site formerly home to Ladywood Social Club and Ladywood Police Station – will create a “100 per cent affordable development… and will help ease housing pressure in the city”.

A planning application is expected to be submitted in the coming weeks.

Eamonn Colman, land and investment director at Birmingham-based developer and investor MIA Property Group, said: “This is an important development for Birmingham.

“We have worked hard with Midland Heart to design well-planned and attractive homes, with residents at the centre of our approach.”

Joe Reeves, deputy chief executive at Midland Heart, said the scheme will contribute to the organisation’s wider housing strategy, which aims to deliver 2250 affordable properties over the next five years.

He added: “Securing this agreement is a positive step in our long-term plans to increase the supply of affordable homes across Birmingham.

“Ladywood is an area where demand is high, and this development will play an important role in meeting that need.”

MIA Property Group has been supported on the endeavour by commercial real estate advisor Avison Young.
