Construction firm set to build charity support

A builder has unveiled a charity partnership.

True North Construction has named Maggie’s Newcastle as its 2026 cause of the year.

The alliance with the cancer charity builds on a relationship founded in 2025, with bosses promising to further develop its support through volunteering, fundraising and community projects.

Staff last year volunteered at Maggie’s centre at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital, helping install steel planters for a tranquil garden, while a charity golf day – which brought together construction companies from across the North East – raised £3500.

David Roberts, managing director at Newcastle-based True North Construction, said: "We are proud to continue our partnership with Maggie’s.

“Supporting isn’t just about giving back – it’s about helping people find connection, calm and reassurance during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.”

Karen Verrill, Maggie’s Newcastle centre head, added: “We couldn’t provide the emotional, practical and psychological support to people living with cancer, and those that love them, without the generosity of individuals and businesses like True North Construction.”
