Eagles and Maldron Hotel mark six-year partnership
A professional basketball club and a city centre hotel are celebrating six years of partnership.
Newcastle Eagles and Maldron Hotel Newcastle have worked together since 2020, with the hotel featuring on the back of the Eagles men’s team kit for the past four seasons.
The collaboration has seen the Maldron provide accommodation for visiting Super League Basketball sides and officials, as well as teams competing during the club’s European North Basketball League campaign.
Beyond matchdays, the hotel has hosted seasonal team gatherings, offering players a base during key moments of the calendar.
The partnership milestone coincides with the Eagles’ Vertu Arena hosting Great Britain’s fixture against Italy on Friday, February 27, with the Maldron once again supporting a major basketball event in the city.
Anna Wadcock, general manager of Maldron Hotel Newcastle, said: “We are delighted to once again be supporting the Newcastle Eagles this season.
“This partnership is one that we treasure deeply, and the Eagles are very much part of our family now.
“It’s been amazing to see the club going from strength to strength over the last few seasons, and there have been so many positive benefits to this partnership.
“We’ve had brilliant brand exposure and some amazing business opportunities.
“Our team’s well‑being is a huge part of our culture here at the Maldron, and being able to send them and their families to cheer on the team and experience the amazing atmosphere at a game is just wonderful.”
Paul Blake, managing director of Newcastle Eagles, added: “We can’t thank Anna, Jemma and the whole of Team Maldron enough for their support over the last six years.
“Having an official hotel partner has become a key component of our operations each season.
“Whether it’s offering a warm welcome and temporary home to incoming Eagles players or providing a dependable destination for visiting teams and officials, the Maldron genuinely have our backs - quite literally.
"It's fantastic to celebrate another milestone with the Maldron this month.
“I’m very grateful for their continued support as we prepare for our ninth international, marking six years working together, and a fourth season with them on our kits.”
