Cumbrian law firms unveil 'exciting' merger plans
Two law firms have unveiled merger plans.
Bendles Solicitors and Gaynham King & Mellor Solicitors are set to join forces.
Bosses say the move will “strengthen services by building depth and expertise”.
They add the merged business – known as Bendles Solicitors incorporating Gaynham King & Mellor – will launch on April 1.
Bendles Solicitors operates offices in Carlisle, Wigton and Whitehaven, with Gaynham King & Mellor running bases in Penrith, Appleby and Kirkby Stephen.
Founded more than 200 years ago, Bendles Solicitors employs in excess of 60 staff, with Gaynham King & Mellor boasting a 20-strong team.
John Stevenson, Bendles Solicitors managing partner, said: “Our shared aim is to build on our complementary expertise and resources to deliver the highest standard of service to clients.”
Mark Graham, Gaynham King & Mellor director, added: “This exciting step brings together two businesses with strong local roots and highly experienced and dedicated teams.”
Under the terms of the deal, Mark will become an equity partner in Bendles Solicitors, with Alex Birtles and Tanya Mellor becoming partners.
Gaynham King & Mellor director Kevin Lowther will operate on a consultancy basis.
