McDonald's serves up 200-plus-job supply base
A fast food chain has expanded operations with a 200-plus-job distribution base.
McDonald’s has opened a site on Darlington’s Symmetry Park.
Bosses say the 138,000sq ft hub will supply goods to more than 200 restaurants across the North East.
They add the “significant investment” will create and support more than 200 posts and cut about 2.5 million road miles from its annual transport tally.
Laura Henderson, McDonald’s UK & Ireland vice president – supply chain, said: “The distribution centre is a major milestone for our business and demonstrates our commitment to the North East.
“Investing in Darlington means investing in people, local jobs and in a more sustainable future.”
The burger and fries firm is operating the distribution centre, based on former agricultural land at Darlington’s eastern edge, alongside supply chain firm Martin Brower.
Parv Sangera, Martin Brower UK & Ireland managing director, added: “This project reflects our long‑standing partnership with McDonald’s and our shared focus on resiliency, innovation and sustainability.
“The centre represents a truly forward‑thinking approach and shows what’s possible when we combine operational excellence with a strong commitment to the communities we serve.”
