Glendale Agricultural Society appoints new chair
The Glendale Agricultural Society has appointed Nick Hargreave as chair as it prepares for this year’s Glendale Show.
Nick brings more than 25 years’ involvement with the Society and will help guide the organisation’s next phase of activity.
He said: “The Glendale Show has always been a celebration of our rural community, and moving to a Saturday gives us the opportunity to welcome even more visitors.
“We are excited for what this change will bring and look forward to a vibrant year ahead.”
The Society has also welcomed Sally Brewis as events coordinator, who joined in January to help deliver its programme of events.
She added: “It is a privilege to join the Society at such a pivotal moment.
“We have a fantastic programme planned, and I’m looking forward to working with our volunteers, schools, exhibitors, and supporters to deliver memorable events throughout the year.”
The 2026 Glendale Show will take place on Saturday, August 29, having moved from its traditional bank holiday Monday slot to the Saturday of the August bank holiday weekend to attract more visitors from across the North East and Scottish Borders.
Lord James Joicey, president of the Glendale Agricultural Society, added that Nick and Sally bring “energy, experience, and a shared commitment to strengthening the Society’s part in promoting and advancing education, skills, and understanding of agriculture, the environment, and rural life”.
