Barnsley pharmacy moves into The Glass Works
A South Yorkshire pharmacy and clinic is expanding its services with a move into a busy town centre hub.
Barnsley Pharmacy and Clinic has opened a new site at The Glass Works, relocating from Racecommon Road to a modern unit in the heart of the town.
Positioned near the Community Diagnostic Centre and Barnsley Markets, the move supports the council’s Health on the High Street initiative.
The independent NHS pharmacy and private clinic offers prescription services, free local delivery and treatments including travel clinics, weight management and ear care.
Adil Mahmood, superintendent pharmacist at Barnsley Pharmacy and Clinic, said: “We’re excited to be in our new premises at The Glass Works.
“We are committed to providing the very best healthcare and advice to patients and customers from the convenience of the high street, as well as at home or in the workplace, offering the most accurate service in-person, at the click of a button, or via a phone call.
“Solidifying our reach in Barnsley town centre, in an accessible location, we aim to future-proof our practice to enable us to keep delivering an outstanding service to the residents of Barnsley.”
The opening adds to Barnsley’s growing healthcare provision, with further plans for a wider health and wellbeing hub aimed at improving access to services and boosting town centre footfall.
Councillor Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture at Barnsley Council, added: “We’re excited to welcome another new tenant to The Glass Works with Barnsley Pharmacy and Clinic offering an important service for residents and visitors in Barnsley.
“By bringing greater healthcare amenities to the high street, we are ensuring services are as convenient as possible for patients and customers while we also successfully drive down waiting times in other areas.
“This mixed-use approach to modern town centres is increasing footfall at The Glass Works and we continue to encourage new retailers to open and more businesses to start up here while progressing our Health on the High Street Initiative.”
