Blueprint unveiled for 106 affordable home scheme
Plans have been unveiled for a 100-plus affordable property scheme.
Gateshead Regeneration Partnership hopes to build an estate at Elisabethville, in Birtley, near Chester-le-Street.
The 106-home development would include one, two and three bedroom houses and apartments.
Gateshead Regeneration Partnership is a joint venture between Gateshead Council, Vistry and Home Group, with the local authority planning to buy the homes.
Councillor Martin Gannon, Gateshead Council leader, said: “This development represents a major investment in the future of Birtley.
“These new homes will provide secure, well‑managed accommodation for our residents and help support a thriving, sustainable community.
“We are pleased to be bringing a long empty site back into use.”
John Collins, of Gateshead Regeneration Partnership, added: “The proposals show how collaboration can help transform unused land into high‑quality homes that benefit residents for many years to come.”
The plans come just days after Gateshead Council revealed a £300 million-plus housing improvement blueprint.
