Mill Yard scheme reaches construction milestone
A mixed-use development in Cambridge is progressing towards completion following a key construction milestone.
Mill Yard, a £180 million scheme on Devonshire Road, has marked the topping out of its main office building, MY Central, as part of a wider regeneration project led by Railpen, Socius and Morgan Sindall Construction.
The development will deliver three office buildings, alongside residential units, a nursery and public green space, forming part of Railpen’s wider Cambridge innovation cluster.
MY Central, a five-storey office building, sits at the heart of the scheme and will provide flexible workspace designed to support collaboration and innovation.
Once complete in 2027, the site will offer 110,000sq ft of office space, build-to-rent homes and a range of facilities including a café, restaurant and community pavilion.
Jamie Shearman, area director for Morgan Sindall Construction in Cambridgeshire, said: “We know that Mill Yard is going to make a significant difference in Cambridge and events like this really shine a light on the transformative potential of this development.
“Working closely with Railpen, Socius, and the local community has been central to this project right from the start and means the team has been able to innovate and think creatively about how we deliver the most benefits for the area.”
Maria Averkina, senior asset and development manager at Railpen, added: “By this time next year, businesses and residents will be benefiting from Cambridge’s most conveniently located, sustainable, future-ready work and living space.
“Railpen is committed to creating places that genuinely benefit our surrounding communities and help support Cambridge’s ambitions for significant growth.
“Mill Yard will be a cornerstone development in recognising these ambitions and it is really exciting to be entering into the final stages of construction for the neighbourhood.”
