Automotive leader honoured with industry award
An automotive sector leader has been honoured with an industry award.
Professor Matt Boyle received the outstanding contribution accolade at the recent North East Automotive Alliance Awards dinner.
Judges praised Prof Boyle’s contribution to the automotive sector over many years, which previously saw him awarded an OBE and elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Prof Boyle, who has served as North East Automotive Alliance chair since 2010, is also director of electrification at the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland and chair of trustees at The Common Room of the Great North.
Paul Butler, North East Automotive Alliance chief executive, said: “The vast majority of guests were more than aware of the contribution Matt has made not just to the North East Automotive Alliance but to the manufacturing sector across the UK over many years.
“His award, alongside those presented to other winners, drew enormous applause.
“It speaks volumes about the culture of our supply chain and its strong commitment to inclusion.”
Guests at the dinner also heard the organisation has now raised more than £100,000 to support STEM education across the North East, with £18,000 donated through this year’s event.
