The Glasshouse appoints chief executive

The Glasshouse International Centre for Music has appointed Fraser Anderson as chief executive following a competitive recruitment process.

Fraser steps into the role after serving as interim chief executive for the past six months, succeeding Abigail Pogson.

He brings more than six years’ experience with the organisation, having played a key role in shaping its strategy, programmes and community impact.

Fraser said: “It’s a privilege to be appointed chief executive of The Glasshouse.

“This is an organisation with a rare sense of shared purpose – artists, audiences and our brilliant team have created a place for music that combines creative excellence with a strong sense of community and belonging.

“We’ve built momentum in recent years but there’s much more to come.

“We are already making next-phase plans to work with artists on live events, festivals and residencies.

“A growing Music Academy is expanding what we can offer young people, emerging artists and aspiring music professionals.

“And our commitment to making what we do available to as many different people as possible is unwavering.

“The North East of England is a place of creativity, resilience and generosity.

“It’s one of the most culturally vibrant places in the country and I’m hugely optimistic about what we can build in the next decade.”

Fraser’s appointment comes as The Glasshouse builds on recent momentum and looks to expand its cultural offering, audience reach and opportunities for young people across the North East.

Andy Haldane, chair of The Glasshouse, added: “Fraser has demonstrated exceptional leadership during his time as interim chief executive.

“He combines a deep understanding of The Glasshouse with a clear vision for its future, and the panel was unanimous in its decision to appoint him permanently.

“At a time of significant opportunity for the region, Fraser is well placed to ensure The Glasshouse continues to play a leading role.”
