Jacksons appoints commercial property solicitor
Newcastle-based law firm Jacksons has appointed Jordan Down as an associate solicitor in its commercial property team as demand for office and industrial space continues to rise across the region.
Jordan joins the firm’s Newcastle office with strong experience in commercial property, advising clients on refinancing, secured lending and increasingly complex transactions shaped by sustainability requirements and changing workplace demands.
He has received industry recognition, including being named a recommended lawyer in the Legal 500 and an Associate to Watch by Chambers.
In his new role, he will support clients on high-value transactions while contributing to the firm’s expanding commercial property offering.
Jordan said: “It is a very friendly and welcoming team here and my start to work at Jacksons has beenbrilliant – really great.
“Demand for commercial property in Newcastle still remains strong, even while there is perhaps less development going on – I imagine due to material costs and people being wary of investing too much in new developments.
“I have already been very busy with secured lending and bridging work and we’re doing a fair bit of refinancing at the moment, along with standard day-to-day work and buying and selling.
“I am aiming to be at Jacksons for the long-term, as it has a family feel and is really focused on staff wellbeing and promoting a positive work-life balance.
“Jacksons is a firm where a lot of people who are now in leadership roles trained with the firm – which is always a good sign – so it’s on my radar to remain long into my career.”
Jordan’s appointment comes as Jacksons strengthens its Newcastle team in response to sustained market growth, with the city continuing to attract investment and outperform long-term averages in office take-up.
Nicola Neilson, head of commercial property at Jacksons, added: “As the market for commercial property in Newcastle continues to remain strong, we are very happy to also strengthen our team in the city with an award-winning associate solicitor of Jordan’s calibre.
“With Jacksons, clients were already benefiting from a great senior and expert commercial property team - and Jordan’s appointment further reflects our commitment to growth, which will enable us to meet the needs of commercial property clients across the North East and beyond.
“We extend a warm welcome to Jordan and commend him for the work he is already doing within the firm, as we support the wider economy in Newcastle.”
