Lefties to open new store at Metrocentre
A North East retail destination is set to strengthen its fashion offer with the arrival of a new international brand.
Metrocentre has announced that Lefties, part of the Inditex group, will open one of its first UK stores at the Gateshead shopping centre.
The Spanish fashion retailer will take a prominent unit between the Red and Green Mall, forming a key anchor within the centre’s fashion hub when it opens in winter 2026.
Offering a wide range of collections across womenswear, menswear, children’s clothing, accessories and homeware, the store will broaden the centre’s appeal.
The deal marks Metrocentre’s second agreement with Inditex this year and reflects continued momentum across its fashion category.
Lefties will join a line-up that includes Zara and Stradivarius, alongside brands such as Mango, Urban Outfitters and Flannels.
The latest signing also follows upcoming arrivals including Hollister and Bershka.
Ben Cox, director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, asset managers of Metrocentre, said: “We’re proud to confirm that Lefties are the latest exciting new entrant to commit to Metrocentre.
“As one of the first Lefties stores in the UK, this is another major endorsement of Metrocentre as a key location for international brands investing in UK retail.
“Lefties’ trend-savvy offer will be a compelling addition to our retail mix, and this signing, once again, reflects the dominance and appeal of our scheme to both national and international retailers.
“With our consistent footfall, extensive catchment, and quality retail offer, we continue to stand out as the leading destination in the region.”
