Plans approved for 130-home Darlington scheme
A North East housebuilder has secured approval for a new housing development in Darlington.
Bowburn-headquartered Homes by Esh has received planning permission from Darlington Borough Council to deliver 130 homes at Burtree Garden Village, in Faverdale.
The development will feature a mix of mainly three and four-bedroom properties across 13 house types, including designs already used at the housebuilder’s Hurworth Meadows and Elder Brook Park sites in Darlington.
The scheme forms part of the wider Burtree Garden Village masterplan, which is expected to bring around 2000 homes, alongside a community centre, pub and health facilities.
Bosses say the development has been designed to prioritise open space, pedestrian links and green infrastructure, while incorporating energy-efficient features including EV charging points and enhanced insulation.
Homes by Esh is already delivering 144 homes at Hurworth Meadows and 155 properties at Elder Brook Park on Neasham Road, following the completion of a 225-home scheme at West Park Garden Village.
Dale Morris, technical director at Homes by Esh, said: “Building on the success of West Park Garden Village in Darlington, securing planning approval at Burtree Garden Village is an important milestone for Homes by Esh.
“It reflects the collaborative approach taken with Darlington Borough Council and our wider project partners.
“As we continue to develop our roots in Darlington, our focus is on bringing forward high‑quality, design‑led homes that respond to local character while contributing positively to the long‑term vision for Burtree as a new, sustainable community.”
