Recruiter in 'new chapter' with seven-figure boost
A recruitment firm is targeting growth after securing seven-figure backing.
Blair West says it is set to invest in staff, expand its sector presence and boost technology.
Officials say the funding – secured through Frontier Development Capital – will “drive the next chapter” at the Newcastle-headquartered company.
The deal will see co-founder David Blair remain as chief executive, with fellow co-founder Simon West switching to a non-executive director role while retaining a board seat and equity stake.
Director Chris Marshall and associate director Craig Stewart will also increase their shareholding at the firm, whose portfolio includes executive search and financial recruitment services.
The investment follows a Northstar Ventures funding round in 2024.
David - who recently took part in a devolution white paper panel discussion hosted by Bdaily publisher NET - said: “Simon and I are immensely proud of what we have built.
“We’re most proud of the management team, which is ready to be the driving force behind Blair West’s next phase of growth.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to draw on Simon’s vast knowledge and experience as he supports the business in a non-executive capacity.”
Simon said: “This is the right time for this transition.
“Moving into a non-executive role allows me to support the business where I can add most value, contributing to strategy and governance, while giving the management team the space and ownership they’ve earned.”
Charlie Robinson, Frontier Development Capital investment director, added: “David and Simon have built an excellent business.
“This is exactly the type of situation our funds are designed to support, and we are looking forward to seeing Blair West build on its excellent position in the market.”
Blair West has a further office in London.
