Xeinadin adds historic practice to portfolio

A long-established North Yorkshire accountancy practice has joined a national advisory group.

Xeinadin has acquired Wasley Chapman, strengthening its presence across North Yorkshire and the North East.

Founded in 1918, Wasley Chapman supports owner-managed businesses, agricultural firms and employers across Whitby, Stokesley, Saltburn, Middlesbrough and Scarborough.

The practice has built strong relationships with generations of family-run businesses, particularly within the region’s farming, hospitality and manufacturing sectors.

Under the terms of the deal, Wasley Chapman will continue operating from its existing offices while gaining access to Xeinadin’s wider infrastructure and specialist expertise across tax, audit and advisory services.

Phil Cuthbert, partner at Wasley Chapman, said: “Our practice began in Whitby in 1918, when the original partner travelled from London and set up an office next to the train station.

“Since then, we’ve looked after families and businesses across the region, often acting for three or four generations.

“This move is about making sure we can keep doing that for the next generation. By joining Xeinadin, we gain access to additional tax specialists and technical expertise.

“We stay local, but we’re stronger and better equipped to support them long term.”

The move comes as many rural and family-owned businesses face increasing pressures around succession planning, inheritance tax changes and wider economic challenges.

Bosses at Xeinadin say the acquisition will help strengthen access to specialist business advice within North Yorkshire, allowing local companies to benefit from broader technical support while retaining established local relationships.

Derry Crowley, chief executive at Xeinadin, added “Wasley Chapman has been advising Yorkshire businesses for over 100 years and by joining Xeinadin, it strengthens our presence along the North Yorkshire coast and reinforces our commitment to supporting owner-managed businesses in the region.

“We operate as a fully integrated accountancy and advisory practice.

“That means shared systems, shared expertise, and consistent standards.

“With Wasley Chapman joining the practice, we give local businesses access to broader technical depth while preserving the relationships they rely on.”

The acquisition further expands Xeinadin’s growing UK and Ireland network, following recent deals for Campbell Crossley & Davis,Gregory, Priestley & Stewart, Accountancy Cloud and TBL Accountants.
