Sheffield solicitors celebrates record turnover
A Sheffield law firm has reported record financial growth following a year of investment, recruitment and commercial deal activity.
Wake Smith Solicitors has achieved annual fee income of £6.35 million, representing a 17 per cent increase on the previous year and marking the first time the city-based firm has delivered double-digit growth.
The firm, which employs 40 fee earners and provides legal services to both businesses and individuals, says recent investment in technology, processes and business development has helped drive performance across several departments.
During the past year, the firm expanded its employment and family teams while continuing to grow its private client, corporate, residential conveyancing and commercial property divisions.
Paul Gibbon, joint managing director at Wake Smith Solicitors, said: “This level of performance in a highly competitive market is testament to the hard work all employees have put in, and the collaborative and supportive culture we have.
“It has been a year of positive change with adaptations to new ways of working, new procedures, new technology, new pricing models and new business development strategies.
“The additional growth to the business creates a platform to further refine financial performance.”
Wake Smith was also involved in several high-profile commercial transactions across South Yorkshire and secured a number of regional award successes, including recognition at the Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards and Yorkshire Business Woman of the Year.
Earlier this year, the firm received Gold Investors in People accreditation for the first time in its history, recognising its approach to leadership and people management.
Liz Shaw, joint managing director at Wake Smith, added: “This positive change, coupled with our financial results, really highlights what we can happen when we work together with a shared sense of purpose.
“Our people and culture are incredibly important to who we are, what we have achieved and makes Wake Smith a great place to work.
“They are the drivers of our success.
“We will keep the momentum going and see what more we can accomplish in the year ahead.”
