Silverstone propels order book with airport project

A building surveyor and project management firm has added thrust to its order book with £750,000 aviation sector work.

Silverstone Building Consultancy has refurbished a 90,000sq ft unit at Leeds Bradford Airport Industrial Estate.

Bosses say the work – which included office space upgrades, LED lighting installation and yard resurfacing – has “significantly enhanced the building’s long-term appeal and performance”.

Newcastle-based Silverstone worked alongside landlord Leopard Capital UK, Wakefield-based lead contractor CDT Commercial and Leeds-based civil and structural engineer Crabtree Potts on the project.

Tom Wright, Silverstone associate director, said: “Delivering the refurbishment of such a historically significant industrial building has been a particularly rewarding project for the team.

“Our focus was creating a modern, efficient and flexible space, while recognising the building’s important place in Britain’s industrial and aviation heritage.”

Miranda Monro, asset manager at London-based Leopard Capital, added: “We are proud to be repositioning this well-connected warehouse.

“We have been pleased with the project team that delivered the extensive refurbishment on time and within budget.”

Silverstone – which last month secured £700,000 work to upgrade Hitachi Construction Machinery UK bases – has further offices in Leeds and London.
