Subsea structure sets sail for Norway

A Teesside engineering firm has completed the assembly and shipment of a major subsea structure to Norway, marking one of its largest projects to date.

T12 Engineering has delivered a 60-tonne gravity-based subsea structure for an independent Norwegian oil and gas operator.

The structure left the Port of Immingham ahead of offshore installation in the Norwegian Sea, where it will support mission-critical subsea equipment in a challenging offshore environment.

Delivered under an engineering, procurement and construction scope, the project was managed by T12 Engineering, which has offices on Teesside, Glasgow, Edinburgh and, most recently, Oslo.

With a 59 sq metre footprint, the structure was developed to meet the operator’s technical, operational and commercial requirements, while supporting long-term reliability offshore.

Originally engineered as a modular system for cost-effective transport in standard shipping containers, the structure was fully assembled quayside before shipment.

T12 Engineering worked with its fabrication partner to optimise manufacturability, material efficiency and cost control, while meeting subsea deployment requirements.

Graham Melroy, director at T12 Engineering, said: “The successful assembly and shipment of the GBS is a major achievement for everyone involved and represents one of the largest projects T12 Engineering has delivered.

“This project demonstrates our ability to deliver complex EPC projects and engineer large-scale subsea infrastructure for international operators.

“From concept development and detailed design through to fabrication oversight, assembly and shipment, our team has played a key role in every stage of the project lifecycle.

“Seeing the structure finally leave UK shores for Norway is a proud moment for our team and our project partners.

“It reflects the quality of engineering expertise we have built within T12 and our growing capability to support major offshore developments across the North Sea and beyond.

“Norway is a strategically important market for T12, and the recent opening of our Oslo office strengthens our ability to work closely with operators and partners in the region.

“Successfully delivering a project of this scale for a Norwegian client is a hugely significant milestone as we continue to expand our international footprint.”
