Industrial services firm expands with takeover
An industrial services firm has expanded with a takeover.
Coriant has bought Wescott Group.
Officials say the move “strengthens Coriant’s national footprint and technical capabilities across critical infrastructure”.
Wescott Group includes the 30-staff Wescott Industrial Services, based in Jarrow, South Tyneside, which is known for coatings, fire protection and industrial maintenance support, and the 70-staff Hull-based scaffolding and access firm SGS.
Mark Duffy, Wescott Group managing director, said: “Partnering with Coriant represents the right step for the business, providing the scale, capability and vision to accelerate our growth.
“I am confident this next phase will create significant opportunities for our people and clients.”
Wescott Group shareholders were advised on the deal by Azets Corporate Finance, whose office estate includes bases in Durham, Newcastle and Wynyard, Teesside.
Lee Humble, Azets’ UK head of corporate finance, who works out of the company’s Tyneside site, added: “This is a significant transaction for all parties.
“It represents another important milestone in the continued evolution of the UK industrial services sector.”
