Plans submitted for 120-home Bridlington scheme
A construction and development company has submitted plans for a new housing scheme aimed at supporting affordable and sustainable growth in Bridlington.
Bowburn-headquartered Esh Construction, working in partnership with Richard Roberts Ltd, has lodged plans with East Riding of Yorkshire Council for a 120-home development on a 4.7-hectare site off Easton Road.
The proposed scheme would deliver a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, with the tenure mix designed around local housing needs and a particular focus on smaller, accessible properties and family accommodation.
Brought forward through Esh’s land-led development approach, the project is expected to be supported by funding from Homes England’s Social and Affordable Homes Programme 2026-2036.
Located on the western edge of Bridlington, the site forms part of BRID-C, a strategic housing allocation identified in the East Riding Local Plan to support residential growth in the town.
Alongside new homes, the development would include a primary spine road and bus route, improving connectivity across the area and linking residents to local facilities, schools and healthcare facilities.
Plans also place a strong emphasis on green infrastructure, with proposals including a central green corridor, pocket parks and retained landscaping designed to enhance biodiversity and create attractive public spaces.
Officials say homes have been designed to reflect Bridlington’s character while incorporating energy-efficient features such as air source heat pumps.
Laura Devaney, land and partnerships director at Esh Construction, said: “We’re pleased to submit plans for our latest development in Bridlington, delivering 120 affordable homes that respond to identified local housing need, shaped through ongoing engagement with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
“This scheme has been brought forward through our land-led solution whereby we identify and unlock sites, secure funding and deliver policy-compliant developments that support wider strategic growth.
“By combining quality design, sustainable infrastructure and strong partnerships, we’re helping to create places that meet the needs of communities now and in the future.”
The application builds on Esh Construction’s existing presence in the town, where the company is currently delivering a zero-gas affordable housing development at Pinfold Lane, comprising 54 homes and a 68-apartment extra care scheme designed to support independent living.
A decision on the planning application will be made by East Riding of Yorkshire Council in due course.
