Plans to be unveiled for Great Ayton scheme
Plans for up to 130 new homes in a North Yorkshire village are set to be unveiled to local residents later this month.
County Durham-headquartered Banks Property is bringing forward proposals for a 6.5-hectare site to the west of Great Ayton, on land north of the A173.
The scheme would include a mix of property types designed to meet different local housing needs, with 30 per cent of the homes set to be affordable.
Plans also include a biodiversity net gain of at least ten per cent, alongside new public open space, green corridors and a new access road from the A173.
The developer is holding two consultation events at Great Ayton Village Hall, giving residents the chance to view the proposals, speak to members of the project team and provide feedback.
The first event will take place from 4pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday, June 23, with a second session running from 11am to 3.30pm on Tuesday, June 30.
Jamilah Hassan, community relations manager at the Banks Group, said: “This will be a high-quality development in which we’re looking to create a range of sustainable, contemporary homes in a great location that is well connected to local facilities.
“The high proportion of affordable housing it includes will also give more people an even greater opportunity to stay in or move to the area.
“Feedback from local people is essential in helping us finalise all our development designs and we’re holding these community events to give the people of Great Ayton the chance to speak directly to our project team about all the different aspects of our proposals.”
Banks Property is expected to submit a planning application to North Yorkshire Council later this year.
If approved, work on the development could begin before the end of 2028.
