FuelHub serves up record growth
A North West meal preparation company is targeting further expansion after reporting record revenues and securing a place among Britain’s fastest-growing private businesses.
FuelHub has achieved turnover of £6.5 million for the financial year ending April 2026 and ranked 39th in The Sunday Times 100, which recognises the UK’s fastest-growing private companies.
Founded in 2019 by Michelle and James Laithwaite, the business provides nutritionist-designed meals for elite athletes and consumers seeking convenient, health-focused food options.
FuelHub reported a 98 per cent compound annual growth rate over the past three years, increasing turnover more than eightfold during that period.
The company now produces more than 25,000 meals each week, has sold more than three million meals, and has grown its subscriber base from 866 to more than 3000 customers.
To support continued growth, FuelHub has expanded its 15,000sq ft headquarters, doubling production capacity to around 50,000 meals per week.
Michelle and James say the company is now targeting turnover of £12 million by 2027.
While FuelHub has built a strong reputation in elite sport, supplying organisations including Team GB, Premier League clubs and England Rugby Union, recent growth has been driven by its expansion into the wider consumer market.
Recent developments include the launch of FuelHub Lite, a lower-calorie meal range, alongside new agreements with Matchroom Boxing, Manchester City’s City in the Community programme and regional supplier Ribble Farm.
The business has also strengthened its leadership team, with Steve King joining as head of growth and Sam Swanton appointed business development manager, while overall headcount has increased from 25 to 55 employees as FuelHub continues to scale.
Michelle said: “This past year has been about building a business that can scale sustainably without compromising quality, consistency and trust.
“We have focused on strengthening the foundations of the business while continuing to serve customers with high-quality and consistent nutrition.
“Whether that is people pushing forward in business, striving for athletic goals or balancing demanding schedules, we focus on creating the conditions for them to perform at their best.”
