MCP Environmental provides groundwork, civil engineering and asbestos services

Industrial services firm expands with takeover

An industrial services firm has bolstered operations with a takeover.

FCS Group has bought MCP Environmental.

Bosses say the swoop for the Bradford-based groundwork, civil engineering and asbestos services provider “strengthens its market position and broadens its service offer”.

Under the terms of the deal, MCP Environmental will continue operating under its existing senior management team, with its funding partner Beechbrook exiting the business.

FC S Group, based in Worksop and the parent company of Force Contracting, operates across civil engineering, rail, plant and associated contracting services.

Founded in 1979, MCP Environmental employs about 120 staff, with its civil engineering division supporting infrastructure projects and its asbestos division providing testing, removal and remediation services.

Jon Milnes, of Beechbrook, said: “MCP Environmental has developed into a respected provider of civil engineering and asbestos services.

“We are pleased to have supported the business and believe FCS Group is the right long-term partner to take MCP forward.”

MCP Environmental shareholders were advised by Newcastle and York-based RG Corporate Finance, led by corporate finance partner Nick Johnson and corporate finance director Connor McBride, with support from corporate finance manager Ben Kain.

Connor said: “The deal provides a positive outcome for all parties and creates a stronger combined platform with increased scale, broader capabilities and significant opportunity for collaboration and future expansion.”

Legal advice was provided by Bristol-based Burges Salmon, led by legal director Tim Roberts, senior associate Chris Doherty and trainee solicitor Matthew Pegler.

Force Contracting was advised by Dawson Radford, led by partner Jo Dawson, with financial and tax due diligence provided by Darbys, led by senior practice manager Dean Watkinson.
