We Are Zenith Partners with Iglu.com to Launch it’s First Cruise Travel Consultant Apprenticeship
A new route into the cruise industry has just opened, and We Are Zenith is proud to be the training partner behind it.
Iglu.com, part of Flight Centre Travel Group and the UK's largest independent specialist cruise and ski travel agency, has launched its first ever Travel Consultant Apprenticeship Programme. Delivered in partnership with We Are Zenith, the scheme gives school and college leavers a genuine, hands-on way into cruise travel, with structured learning built around real experience inside a live travel business.
Starting in September 2026 at Iglu's Portsmouth headquarters, the 16-month Apprentice Cruise Travel Consultant programme is open to candidates aged 16 and over with at least four GCSEs, including English and Maths. Twelve places are available, with assessment days running in early July ahead of the September start.
The programme is split into two phases. The first nine months focus on the fundamentals, global geography, booking systems, and developing a customer-first mindset. The final seven months shift into sales, where apprentices build their own selling skills and start managing a live portfolio of cruise holidays. Alongside the day-to-day experience, apprentices work towards a recognised qualification through government-funded training.
It's a proper entry point into an industry that doesn't always have one, and a strong example of what building the next generation of cruise talent can look like in practice, learning directly from one of the UK's leading travel brands, from customer conversations through to closing sales.
Georgia Callander, Business Development Manager at We Are Zenith, said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure working alongside Alex and the team to launch Iglu’s apprenticeship programme. I’m really excited for what’s ahead and look forward to seeing their apprentice’s flourish. I also feel very privileged that We Are Zenith has been able to support the launch of their first Travel Consultant Apprenticeship Programme, and I hope we can continue this partnership to help develop young talent within the sector.”
Iglu Cruise head of talent and development Alex Head said: “We are truly excited to be launching such a practical programme at Iglu Cruise. “We invite local young people to apply to join one of the world’s leading travel brands, to learn from the very best, and to receive a brilliant grounding in the world of work. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring this opportunity to Portsmouth and hope it is the start of a long-term programme.”
