Eque2 acquires cloud estimating specialist

A Berkshire-based construction software provider has strengthened its cloud offering through the acquisition of a specialist estimating technology business.

Maidenhead-headquartered Eque2, which also operates a regional office in Newcastle, has bought Chalkstring, a cloud-based estimating and cost management software company, as part of plans to launch a next-generation estimating platform for the construction sector.

The deal will see Chalkstring’s technology become a core component of Eque2’s future estimating offering, providing contractors with enhanced tools to manage costs, risk and project margins.

Founded to modernise construction estimating, Chalkstring has developed a cloud-first platform designed for estimating and commercial professionals.

Bosses say the acquisition supports Eque2’s wider cloud strategy, enabling closer integration between estimating, project delivery and financial management systems. 

They add that existing Chalkstring customers will continue to receive support while benefiting from accelerated product development and access to Eque2’s broader capabilities.
