Probio partnership goes the distance

A North East alternative fuels supplier has expanded its partnership with one of the region’s best-known sporting and entertainment venues.

Probio Energy has strengthened its relationship with Newcastle Racecourse by becoming official sponsor of the Colonel Porter Stand.

The expanded agreement also includes a programme of race sponsorships throughout the racing calendar and the acquisition of a dedicated private hospitality box at the venue.

The partnership follows Probio Energy’s earlier connection with Newcastle Racecourse, which began after Heavenly Heather’s 200-1 victory at the venue’s Good Friday fixture in 2025.

As part of the collaboration, Probio Energy, which supplies alternative fuels to power producers and industrial customers across the UK and Europe, including RDF, SRF, RCF, biomass and recycled wood fuels, will use the racecourse as a platform for client entertainment, networking and engagement with racegoers during major fixtures.

The company will also mark the partnership on Plate Day on Saturday, June 27, offering the first 100 racegoers who share a photo with Probio Energy branding and tag @ProbioEnergy and @Newcastleraces on social media will receive a free drinks voucher.

Probio Energy director Kris Baker-Rain said: “Newcastle Racecourse has been part of my life since childhood, so to return as a racehorse owner and experience such an extraordinary day with Heavenly Heather was incredibly special.

“Watching her become one of only a handful of horses this century to win at odds of 200-1 is something I’ll never forget.

“It was a remarkable result not only for the horse, but for everyone involved.

“Having a local owner, trainer, jockey and racecourse at the centre of such a memorable moment made it even more meaningful and showcased the strength of racing in the North East.

“We are equally proud to see the Probio brand represented throughout the racecourse.

“From our earliest discussions with the team at Newcastle, we recognised the opportunity to align our business with one of the region’s leading sporting venues and were delighted to become involved.

“Supporting local businesses remains a key part of our approach.

“We worked with Enhance North East to create our branding and marketing materials, drawing on the outstanding talent available within the region.

“Their creativity and expertise helped bring our vision to life.

“Newcastle Racecourse provides an excellent platform to raise awareness of Probio among both racing and business audiences.

“With a calendar of high-profile events attracting national and international attention, the partnership offers significant exposure and helps us continue building the profile of the business across multiple sectors.”
