Your HR Manager Needs AI Skills. Your HR Support Needs a Qualification. Why Not Sort Both at Once?

Most businesses treat HR apprenticeships as a one-person decision. Pick a name, pick a course, tick a box.

We think that's a missed opportunity.

Here's the move smart employers are making right now: pair up your HR Manager with your HR Support or admin person, and put them on two different apprenticeships at the same time. One leads. One builds the foundations. Both come out the other side stronger, and so does your whole HR function.

The Manager Goes First: Level 4 AI & Automation – HR Manager Pathway

This one's for the person already running your HR function day to day. The one who knows your people data, your workflows, your pain points, better than anyone.

This pathway hands them the tools to turn that knowledge into an actual AI strategy. Not a vague "we should probably look into AI" conversation. A live AI Transformation Plan, built on your organisation's real HR data, using Microsoft Copilot to automate the admin that eats their week.

Over seven modules they'll audit your HR systems for AI readiness, build a board-ready business case, sort out the GDPR and governance side properly, and lead an actual implementation project from start to finish. It's 14 months plus EPA, fully funded through the Apprenticeship Levy or co-investment, and it ends with a nationally recognised Level 4 qualification mapped to the new ST1512 standard.

In short: your manager stops reacting to HR problems and starts leading HR's AI transformation.

The Support Person Steps Up: Level 3 HR Support Pathway

While your manager is building the AI roadmap, your HR Support or admin team member gets the chance to formalise everything they're already doing on the ground, and build the professional foundation to go further.

This pathway covers the real backbone of HR: employment law, policy, recruitment, employee relations, HR data and reporting. The stuff that has to be right before any AI strategy means anything. 19 months, fully funded, and it opens the door to Associate Membership of the CIPD on completion. From there, the route to Level 5 HR Consultant/Partner, and eventually HR Manager themselves, is wide open.

So while one person is automating the workflow, the other is making sure the fundamentals underneath it are bulletproof. That's not a coincidence. That's the point.

Why Team Them Up

Send your manager on an AI pathway alone, and you get one brilliant strategist sitting on top of a support function that hasn't moved. Send your support person on a Level 3 alone, and you get a stronger HR foundation with no one steering where AI fits into it.

Put them together, and you get an HR function that's levelling up from both ends at once. Strategy and AI capability at the top. Compliance, people support and professional credibility underneath it. Two apprentices, two different journeys, one much stronger HR team by the time both finish.
