Consultancy delivers city affordable home scheme
A development and construction consultancy has completed a £42 million affordable home project.
Identity Consult worked with social housing provider Vico Homes to deliver Saxton Heights.
Officials say the “transformative” 207-property Leeds venture will provide “homes in the heart of the city that people need”.
The scheme includes one to four-bed apartments across 20 storeys, with every home available for rent.
The development was backed by £1.2 million support from West Yorkshire Combined Authority and cash from Homes England.
Pete Johnson, senior director at Sunderland-headquartered Identity Consult, whose York-based office supported the project, said: “Delivering high-quality affordable housing is central to our mission.
“It is particularly rewarding to see this project delivered as the site was a stalled build-to-rent scheme we introduced to Vico Homes.
“Through close working, we were able to acquire the land and sign up a construction contract in five months, a process that could typically take 12 months or more.”
Joel Owen, director of development and growth at Castleford-based Vico Homes, added: “We’ve got ambitious plans to deliver 10,000 new homes over the next ten years.
“Saxton Heights is our biggest project yet, and we’ve made it happen through strong partnerships.”
Identity Consult has further offices in Birmingham, Preston and Salford.
