Gentoo in £1.4 million energy efficiency boost
A housing association has secured £1.4 million funding to boost energy efficiency work.
Gentoo has been backed by additional grant funding through the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 3.
The Sunderland-headquartered operator says the cash will support the delivery of solar panels, loft and cavity wall insulation, low-energy lighting and smart heating controls.
It adds the funding will be matched by Gentoo, taking the social housing provider’s total energy efficiency spend for the year to more than £7.2 million.
The operator is delivering the project as part of the Tees Valley Combined Authority consortium.
Peter Akers, Gentoo director of asset and sustainability, said: “This funding is a fantastic opportunity to accelerate our plans to improve the energy efficiency of our homes.
“It means we can support even more customers by making homes warmer and helping reduce energy costs during a challenging time.”
Gentoo last month revealed it had carried out £1.4 million upgrades to bolster energy efficiency across more than 400 homes and unveiled a £47.7 million property investment programme.
